GOOD IP MAINTENANCE PAYS FOR ITSELF
Things like the building, the machine or fleet and ICT require constant maintenance
Good IP maintenance pays for itself. In the Profit and Loss Account of companies, ‘maintenance costs’ are always mentioned. Things like the building, the machine or fleet and ICT require constant maintenance. They are company assets with which the company delivers its added value in the market. They should be and remain in optimum condition just like the employees. Experience has taught us that the assets that are not tangible / visible, such as intellectual property rights (IP), are only partially maintained.
IE maintenance has much more to do
Holders of patents, image and / or name registrations, domain names and the like are often limited to paying the annual conservation costs. This means that maintenance is performed for many. But IE maintenance has much more to do. Consider, for example, the continuous updating of databases; the management of the risk of a trademark; growing a patent family or transferring and retaining knowledge. Good IP maintenance pays for itself.
