Now that many entrepreneurs are doing well again, I notice regularly that they have difficulty in defining a clear future strategy. Organic growth is always pleasant, but does not always feel comfortable. After all, it is the result of what you are doing every day. However, taking new paths, devising and developing new products or sales strategies, is where entrepreneurs get stuck and can use a tester. That can be in the boardroom or at the kitchen table, but my experience shows that an external consultant with an independent position and a fresh and wide view of possible alternatives can be very valuable in this role.

The adviser does not know and feel the distraction of the day-to-day business and can get a good insight from a distance about where the company is and what the alternatives are to take new paths. This may include extra hands from MBI staff, strategic or financial parties on board, which imply that the entrepreneur has to share. That is threatening, but with the right agreements the entrepreneur can stay in the lead and do exactly what he or she is good at and energises him. By organizing and organizing it differently, others fill in the more routine matters and the company is often continued and guided in a clearer and more structured manner. This often results in renewed energy and focus on the entrepreneur. And the desired growth for the company. Governing is looking ahead and fresh eyes often have very interesting growth paths that are worth the walk!

Wat impliceert dat de ondernemer zijn taart moet gaan delen

Routine gaat vervelen. Je wilt jezelf blijven uitdagen en ontwikkelen, want als je doet wat je deed, dan krijg je wat je kreeg. En dat is nou precies wat tegen onze natuur ingaat. Vele ondernemers zullen zich hierin herkennen.

Nu het vele ondernemers weer voor de wind gaat, merk ik regelmatig dat zij moeite hebben om een heldere toekomststrategie uit te stippelen. Organisch groeien is altijd prettig, maar voelt niet altijd even comfortabel. Immers, het is de resultante van datgene waar je dagelijks mee bezig bent. Echter, het inslaan van nieuwe wegen, het bedenken en ontwikkelen van nieuwe producten of omzet strategieën, is waar ondernemers vast lopen en een klankbord kunnen gebruiken. Dat kan in de directiekamer of aan de keukentafel zijn, maar mijn ervaring leert dat een adviseur van buiten met een onafhankelijke positie en een frisse en wijde blik op mogelijke alternatieven hier veel kan betekenen.

De adviseur kent en voelt de afleiding van de dagelijkse besognes niet en kan van een afstandje een goed inzicht krijgen waar het bedrijf staat en wat de alternatieven zijn om nieuwe wegen in te slaan. Dit kan inhouden extra handjes van MBI’ers, strategische of financiële partijen aan boord halen, wat impliceert dat de ondernemer zijn taart moet gaan delen. Dat komt bedreigend over, maar met de juiste afspraken kan de ondernemer aan het roer blijven zitten en juist doen waar hij of zij goed in is en energie van krijgt. Door het anders te organiseren en in te richten, vullen anderen de meer routinematige zaken in en wordt het bedrijf vaak op een helderder en meer gestructureerde wijze gecontinueerd en geleid. Dit resulteert vaak tot hernieuwde energie en focus bij de ondernemer. En de gewenste groei voor de onderneming.

Regeren is vooruitzien en relatief vreemde ogen dragen vaak zeer interessante groeipaden aan die de moeite van het bewandelen waard zijn!
